DIY Mason Jar Gifts For The Holidays
Apple Spiced Pancakes
Yields: 16 (4-inch) pancakes
Mix together all dry ingredients in a large bowl. With a spoon fill a mason jar with dry ingredients. Cover tightly with lid. Will store in a cool dry place for 6-months.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
In a large bowl, mix together all wet ingredients. Add entire contents of mason jar pancake mix. Gently stir until combined, do not over mix. Batter will be lumpy. If batter is too thick add 2 tablespoons of milk a time.
In a large skillet on medium high heat, add ½ teaspoon butter. Swirl to coat the pan. Add ¼ cup of batter to pan. Repeat with another ¼ cup. Heat until bubbles come up to the top, about 1 to 2 minutes. Flip and cook other side for another 1 to 2 minutes. Don’t flip again. Remove to a sheet tray and keep warm in the oven.
Peppermint Brownie Gift Jar
Yields: 9 (2-inch) square brownies
Pour flour, baking powder, and salt into mason jar. Whisk with fork. With a spoon, gently add in a layer of cocoa powder, then sugar. Make sure each ingredient is not mixing with the others. Top with chocolate chips, then chocolate peppermint candies. You want to see the separation of each ingredient in the jar.
Preheat oven to 350.
Line an 8 x 8 baking dish with parchment paper, so it overhangs over 2 sides. Spray with cooking spray.
In a bowl add melted butter. Whisk in eggs and vanilla extract until well blended. Pour entire contents of jar into butter mixture. Stir together until combined.
Bake for 30to 35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Lift the parchment paper out and cut brownies. Store in an airtight container at remove temperature up to 7 days.
Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Gift Jar
Yields: 10 to 12 servings
In a large mason jar, add cocoa powder, sugar, sea salt, and cayenne, mix well. Pour in bittersweet chocolate chips add the caramel flavor chips. Stir until well blended. Slightly tap jar to pack. Place marshmallows on top. Cover with lid.
To make hot chocolate, remove marshmallow and set aside. Pour 3 tablespoons into a mug. Fill with hot milk. Gently stir until chocolate and caramel chips have melted. Top with marshmallows.
