Tia’s French Toast with Praline Topping
Baked French Toast with Praline Topping
Yields 6 to 8 servings
Prep time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 8 hours and 15 minutes
Prepare a 9 x 13 baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter. Add bread cubes and chocolate chips to dish. Set aside.
In a large bowl or blender, whisk together eggs, milk, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until frothy. Pour over bread mixture. Gently mix until all bread is coated. Cover with aluminum foil and place in the refrigerator overnight.
In a bowl, stir together butter, oats, brown sugar, flour and nuts. With a fork, mix until mixture comes together and is crumbly. Sprinkle over casserole. Cover with aluminum foil and place in the refrigerator overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove from refrigerator. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until center is firm.
Last minute 5 minutes of baking remove foil and bake until top is golden brown. Remove from oven and serve with maple syrup or honey.
Any bread will work in this casserole. This is great for leftover hamburger buns, sliced bread ends.
Bread can be torn or cut. Gluten free bread will work too.
Try to keep this healthy for kids, by not adding too much sugar. Eggs are great protein. Balanced meal.
Makes great leftovers for several days of breakfast.
Make day before so not busy in the kitchen that morning.
